The Radio City Christmas Spectacular

In 2007, the most famous Christmas show in New York celebrated its 75th anniversary by adding to its program of all new scenes, original and unpublished numbers Rockettes and a spectacular final number including special effects, fireworks and father flying Christmas. Conventional parts of the show such as “The Living Nativity” and “Parade of Soldiers of wood” are still showing.

 

ING NYC Marathon

Real annual event, the ING NYC Marathon is a sporting event that is proving to be both a physical feat and an experience that will change your life. Like all marathons, running NYC covers 42.2 kilometers. But no other city offers as exciting and challenging as the one offered to the thousands of runners along the route through the five boroughs of NYC, Staten Island to Central Park visual and sound environment, and in front of millions of viewers .

 

New York Comedy Festival

Almost all the big names in comedy have already trod the boards in New York during the Comedy Festival in New York. Among the distinguished participants at the Festival, Adam Carolla, Rosie O’Donnell, Ricky Gervais, Dane Cook, Andy Samberg, Bill Maher or Tracy Morgan. The program is split between improvisation evenings in small, often packed houses and shows a larger scale taking place in prestigious venues such as Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall.

 

New York Chocolate Show (Le Salon du Chocolat in New York)

Every November, the chocolate softens life in New York with the Salon du Chocolat: a dedicated chocolate overflowing with demonstrations, tastings, book signings and more event. And the chocolate is not only there to be eaten: in previous editions, models proudly paraded down the catwalk dressed in chocolate and children were able to create works of art with chocolate.

 

Holiday Train ShowJardin New York Botanical

Ideal for families, the Holiday Train Show Botanical Garden New York showcases model trains passing in front of more than 140 replicas of key sites in the city, in a plant decoration made of bark, seeds and other plants. Among the must: miniature Brooklyn Bridge and Yankee Stadium. More recently also added to the original Station Penn Station, Ellis Island Island elm bark and a replica of the George Washington Bridge, overlooking the visitors’ entrance.

 

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

School bands, artists and celebrities bring entertainment and excitement without context to the Thanksgiving Parade Macy’s. Nevertheless, they remain in the background behind the real stars of the show: the balloons. Each year, more than 2.5 million spectators are enthusiastic admiring helium-filled balloons -to giant effigy of SpongeBob, Snoopy, Garfield and other personnages- float along the route of 4 km Parade. This is without doubt one of the favorite traditions of end of year New Yorkers. The place where the balloons are inflated the day before the event is also open to the general public.

The lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center officially marks the beginning of the holiday season in New York City. Do not hesitate to brave the crowds and the cold to admire the giant tree embellished with 25,000 multicolored lights. The ceremony, broadcast live since 1966, also offers live performances of artists addressing the young and old -The Rockettes or Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, discovered by talent show American Idol’s included is one of the artists who already hosted the ceremony. The Christmas tree remains lit until the week after New Year’s Day.
